Easy ways to add coffee in your skincare routine with MCaffeine

I love my morning cup of coffee; the aroma has the power to invigorate the senses and consuming it boosts the energy and the mood I require to focus on the tasks of the day. Of late, I have been hearing a lot that that coffee is great for skin too when applied topically. Being a coffee lover myself, I thought to give coffee-based skincare products a try and after much research zeroed in on the brand MCaffeine.

I tried four of their coffee-based products: Shampoo, Oil, Face serum, Eye cream

About the brand MCaffeine:

The brand’s website mentions “We are India’s 1st caffeinated personal care brand with an exciting range of Caffeinated products for young and aspiring millennials.” With a range of products that encompasses Body care, Face care and Haircare, MCaffeine has Coffee as the main ingredient in all. The products of this PETA certified brand, are cruelty-free, 100%vegan, are FDA approved and does not contain any harmful chemicals and mineral oils.

Why coffee works in Skin and Haircare products:

Coffee is a blessing for skin and hair. It contains caffeine, a powerhouse of antioxidants, proven to get brighter skin, help fight puffy eyes and even minimize the appearance of cellulite. Not just skin, using coffee-based products on hair too is beneficial as it boosts the growth of hair. Coffee based products come in a wide range namely, masks, scrubs, oils and shampoo, that offer a variety of benefits.

Review of the products:

MCaffeine Coffee Scalp and Hair oil

Coffee

Key Ingredients: Coffee Oil, redensyl, argan oil, coffee

Benefits: coffee oil has caffeine in it, which stimulates the blood circulation and flow of nutrients to the roots of hair , thereby promoting healthy hair. Redensyl is a compound that consists of plant extracts and has properties that promote hair growth. Aragan oil hydrates soften and make hair more manageable. Argan oil contains vitamin E, which prevents hair from damage and is good for the overall health of hair. Caffeine in the oil stimulates the roots and strengthen the hair.

My Experience: The oil smells of nicely brewed coffee, a trait that instantly puts you in good mood. The oil is quite light on the hair and doesn’t feel sticky at all. I have used it 7-8 times so far and can safely say I am on the path of getting the lost sheen in my hair back.

MCaffeine Coffee Shampoo

Key Ingredients: Coffee Extracts, Proteins, Argan Oil, and Caffeine.

Benefits: When applied topically Coffee extracts help stimulate hair growth and stop hair loss.

Caffeine is a stimulant; this property helps improves blood circulation to hair follicles, thereby helping the hair to grow faster. Increased blood circulation also means a good flow of nutrients to the roots of hair , resulting in healthy hair. Proteins too help keep the hair healthy by nourishing and strengthening the hair shaft. The shampoo contains the protein extracts of wheat, soy and corn.

Argan oil helps keep the hair moisturised and make the mane smooth and lustrous.

How to use: Take a generous amount of shampoo and apply to the wet hair and scalp. Massage gently with your fingertips till a nice lather is formed. Leave it for a minute and wash it off with lukewarm water.

My Experience: The coffee-based shampoo cleanses the hair thoroughly by removing dust, dirt and grime. I love the nice subtle aroma of coffee which lingers on after the wash. Since the shampoo doesn’t contain any harmful chemicals and is free from SLS, Sulphate, Silicone & Paraben, I can safely use it twice or thrice a week , if required.

The third product I ordered for myself is Coffee Prep – Gift Kit

While browsing the brand’s website, I chanced upon this kit. I loved the packaging and the contents of the kit, and decided to gift myself one.

The kit has coffee face serum and coffee under eye cream whose main ingredient other than coffee is the extracts of white water lily. The latter is a good moisturiser, providing instant hydration to the skin. It also has antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties.

Face serums are lightweight, spread evenly and are potent formulations. And if like me, you too like them, then this product tick all the boxes. The serum is in liquid form and has a nice aroma of coffee which keeps you fresh and revived the entire day. Along with the extracts of coffee and white water lily, the serum also has vitamin E and hyaluronic acid- both the ingredients proven to keep skin hydrated and healthy. The serum is free from SLS, SLES, Silicones, parabens and suits all skin types.

Since coffee is full of antioxidants, when its extracts are used in an eye cream, it firms, tightens the skin under the eyes, and also reduce the dark circles and puffiness. This eye cream doesn’t feel heavy and spreads easily too. It’s gentle enough to not trigger any irritation in the super delicate eye area. Other than coffee extracts and white water lily, the cream has vitamin E, sweet almond oil and hyaluronic acid.

 Takeaway:

Loved these coffee-based products from MCaffeine. These sure have become a part of my daily skincare routine. And I am soon going to check out more products from the brand’s repertoire.
