The world is reeling under a pandemic and the three health advisories to follow during this time is:
- Wash and sanitize hands
- Maintain social distancing
- Wear Mask
When the Covid crises started last year, people found washing of hands and sanitizing pretty doable, but second and third were not attainable by all of us. Although difficult, we managed to follow certain rules to the tee out of fear of not adhering to the regime proposed by the Government.
Especially now when we are braving the second wave of the pandemic, even people who were anti-mask, have realized how important the same is. This could be out of fear, but now everyone is wearing their mask in public settings.
Our country has already started the vaccination drive and we are inching towards normalcy but considering the nature of this virus, the one thing which will remain our constant companion would be the mask, at least for the time being.
From cloth masks to bandanas, from surgical masks to designer ones, from hand-sewn masks to the ones with respirators; masks come in a wide variety and sizes.
Safety or fashion?
A few days back I asked a friend and she said safety. For her, a mask that conforms to the face would be preferred any day over the fashionable ones churned out by the designers to match the occasion. Well, to each its own!
Since the time the mask has become a necessity, I too have noticed how people keep a variety for a different purpose; so, the work mask would be altogether different than the one they wear for some special occasion, which usually are custom made. These DIY masks, though look good and give protection against droplets, won’t prevent the microscopic particles, unless added with a filter.
If I were asked the same question, I would prefer a stylish, efficient mask; means it should be a combination of fashion and functionality.
How to ensure both?
For obvious reasons, safety comes first. With the rise of double mutant and triple mutant virus, it is paramount that the mask we buy should protect us from 3 problems- pollution, viruses, and bacteria.
One important aspect to check for the effectiveness of the mask is its filtration. Do you know that the masks with activated carbon and copper ensure protection against the above-mentioned 3 culprits? The carbon absorbs the impurities in the air and copper kills the virus. ‘MY’ Series 1 Antiviral Mask and ‘MY’ Series 3 Mask with Particulate filter offers the best protection from all the airborne disease-causing organisms and lets you breathe the purest air free from vehicle exhaust, smoke, and Industrial pollution. So, choose your mask wisely.
Also, the breathability of the masks should not be compromised when it snugly covers the mouth and nose. When you wear a mask, your breath should pass through the mask rather than around its edges. So, choose a mask that helps you breathe seamlessly and at the same time feels soft on your skin.
Last but not the least, since a mask has now become part of our daily outfit, there’s no reason you can’t look cool while sporting it. I find solid-colored masks the preferable choice since it pairs well with any outfit. So, choose a mask that not only is well-made and durable but also comes in a range of colors to help you go monochromatic or matchy-matchy, whichever you want.
When it comes to stylish, efficient mask, My Mask is my preferred choice.
A few more tips to look good while wearing a mask:
Focus on your eye and eyebrow
The frame of your face is your brows. So, when it looks stunning it is hard to notice
anything else about you. Hence, removing some unwanted brow and hair in the
middle of your two eyebrows is good.
With a mask on, you can also concentrate more on your eye makeup – use bold eyes lashes or play with different shades of eyeshadow.
It is essential to use some accessories like earrings or hair clips to look good but whether you simple, elegant ones or something gaudy, ensure it suits your outfit and compliments your mask too.
Style your hair
Your hairstyle is the most important accessory. It is also your only natural accessory.
Care for your hair and experiment with some hairstyle to bring the best version of you.
Some people look great with a straight hairstyle and some rock the curls. The choice is yours, but you must make sure which is suitable for you while you wear the mask.
Initially, I also took time to adapt to the face mask, but now it is very much part of my whole ensemble. Since I have found a perfectly stylish, efficient mask to use on daily basis, I don’t mind being masked up!! The only flipside- I miss the warm smiles of people.
