A retreat that is visually appealing and offers utmost comfort and variety when it comes to room, food and activities, is how I would like to describe The Wave, Wayanad.
The Wave is a resort situated in the beautiful hill station of Wayanad, in “God’s own country”- Kerala. The place is blessed with lush greenery, scenic beauty and misty environs that makes it a perfect abode for a relaxing vacation.
Set in a peaceful location, offering beautiful views of the hills and the lake, The Wave is an ideal place to rejuvenate your mind and body.
Architecture:
25 independent “Exotica” rooms are spread out in such a way that from each room one can get the unending views of the gentle lake encircled by verdant greens. A flight of open wide brick stairs gives access to hotel rooms and other facilities of the resort.
Within the property grounds, one can find well-kept gardens, a swimming pool, a kids play area and a restaurant serving a choice of fine dining options.
Our experience:
When we reached the resort, we were welcomed by the courteous staff with a glass of milkshake. Though different from the usual, we enjoyed the cool healthy drink. After completing the formalities at the reception, we were guided to our room.
Perched on the higher grounds, our spacious room offered great views of the lake from the windows and the private balcony. The interiors of the room ooze simplicity and an uncluttered aesthetic. The amenities of the room include a coffee/tea maker, mini-fridge, satellite Tv, 24/7 hot water, and toiletries. A small sitting nook with wooden oriented furniture by the window makes a lovely addition too. Cane chairs with a table on the balcony provide perfect seating as one enjoys misty vistas of the lake while sipping on the morning cup of tea.
After freshening up, we headed to have our lunch at their multi-cuisine restaurant named Spectra. From the restaurant too one can get unhindered views of the lake through the glass windows. food is freshly prepared to match your taste and guests can savour all the three meals here, with cuisines that ranged from vegetarian, non-vegetarian, continental, and Kerala fare after enjoying the sumptuous meal, we came back to the comfort of our room.
We spent the rest of the afternoon loitering around the resort all the while taking Instagram worthy pictures from various spots. The kids enjoyed their time at the outdoor play area and thereafter in the infinity swimming pool. We also enjoyed playing badminton at their outdoor court (equipment to play is available at the resort).
A guided tour to the lake was next on our itinerary. A small trek down a narrow trail took us to the shore of the lake Karapuzha. An expansive lake with hundreds of purple lotuses skimming the surface looks as stunning as the surroundings. The clean waters, vistas of the surrounding greenery and the sun setting behind the hills is truly a sight to behold. After snapping a few dozen photographs, we came back to the room.
We had an early dinner hereafter and called it a day. The next morning, we were in for a surprise since the staff of the resort arranged a special breakfast for us at the lawns of the resort overlooking the lake. The wholesome breakfast consisted of aloo-poori, fresh-cut fruits, dosa, omelette, toast and fresh juice/tea/coffee. We ate to our fill while soaking up the sunlight filtering through the green leaves of the trees.
The one day we stayed at The Wave was extremely awesome. We left for our home city Bangalore at around 11 am with a bag full of beautiful memories.
