For some people, beauty encapsulates good looks, while for others, it can mean the person’s good personality, thoughts, talent, or ethics. Beauty is a term that is not easy to define as everyone has their sense of it, but one facet of beauty that everyone desires is healthy clean skin.
To achieve the required glow on the skin we all use a lot of manufactured products, all of which claim to give the desired result. At the same time, we also know using these products means we are putting a lot of synthetic ingredients on our skin which gets absorbed, as skin is porous. But the sheer convenience of using the ready-made products makes us gravitate towards them.
But what if I share with you some natural ingredients which are found in our homes and can also be conveniently used on our skin; after all, we all know this fact too that natural ingredients are any day better than the harsh chemicals substances.
The first natural ingredient straight from the kitchen is SUGAR.
Read about the second natural ingredient here.

Why it works:
Sugar is a natural humectant (a hygroscopic substance that keeps things moist). When used as an ingredient in DIY skincare, it draws moisture from the air to the skin thereby keeping it hydrated, smooth and plump. Sugar is also a natural source of Glycolic acid whose properties helps exfoliate, reduce fine line and wrinkles, fades pigmentation marks and clears acne too.
When used as an exfoliant, the small granules of sugar are effective in removing layers of dead cells from the skin.
Since sugar is a humectant, a sugar-based hair mask brings instant life to limp, brittle hair.
Sugar DIY skincare is a budget-friendly beauty solution too, straight from your kitchen
How to use Sugar in your skincare routine:
For Face: Mix a teaspoon of sugar of powdered sugar, honey and a few drops of lemon juice or almond oil, or Olive oil and make a paste. Apply a thin layer on the face for 10 minutes and wash it off with cool water while scrubbing the face gently.
For Body: Take half a cup of brown sugar and add 2-3 tablespoon of Jojoba oil or coconut oil and little lemon juice to make sandy consistency. You can use this scrub on the body while taking shower. Apply the scrub in a circular motion on the entire body and wash it off with lukewarm water.
For Hair: Mix 2 tablespoons of brown sugar, 1 tablespoon of coconut oil and 1 tablespoon of Olive oil in a bowl. Apply the mask on the scalp and leave for 15-20 minutes to let it soak into the scalp. Wash it off with lukewarm water and a mild shampoo.
Precautions: Raw, granulated sugar is coarse, so use it on the body only. For the face, use either softer brown sugar or a powdered one that won’t be harsh on sensitive skin. Apply only gentle pressure while rubbing sugar into the skin.
Do not use sugar on the face if you have acne or other skin conditions.
If the scalp has dandruff or is inflamed, it’s better to avoid a sugar hair mask as it might increase the growth of false bacteria.
