Hilton celebrates 100th anniversary with “century of flavours.”

A hundred years in the hospitality industry is worth celebrating and if it’s Hilton, the celebration has to be grandeur.

Last Sunday, I had the opportunity to be a part of the occasion which saw the city’s bloggers, influencers and guests being treated to the Hilton hospitality at Asia Alive, a Pan Asian restaurant at DoubleTree Suites by Hilton Bangalore, where the chefs’ specially curated brunch encompassed the century of flavours associated with Hilton.

Mr. Subhabrata Roy, General Manager, gave a warm welcome speech along with F&B Manager Mr. Bhojraj Sharma, Executive Chef Tanmoy Majumder and Assistant Manager Marketing and Communication Megha Garg. After being honoured to be a part of Diya lighting ceremony as a mark of great milestone, we headed to enjoy the lavish buffet.

The buffet brunch was an eclectic mix of enticing dishes, ranging from chef-special delicacies, all-time favorite comfort food, Pan-Asian delights, popular European food and unlimited cocktails.

To give you a sneak peek, the food offerings included:  Chicken Saltimbocca, Mexican Gumbo Soup, Seafood Paella, Salt Grill – Corn fed Chicken, Tenderloin Medallion, Caribbean Jerk Chicken, Five spiced roast duck with tangerine, Eggs Benedict, Waldorf Salad, Baked Mushroom and Spinach, Meditation Eggplant, Sushi, Malai kofta, Dal Panchratan and other lip-smacking Indian cuisine.

I especially want to mention the five dishes which I sampled and thought would be unfair on my part if I write about  them in passing.

So first is Hilton’s signature Pina Colada. The cocktail arrived at my table in high style; served in the real pineapple fruit. My Pina Colada had the right mix of rum, coconut milk and pineapple juice. Oh BTW, do you know  that Piña Colada was first created at the Caribe Hilton in Puerto Rico and here at DoubleTree you can taste quite a few variants of like mango, strawberry and rose .

Now I won’t be a true Indian if I don’t drool at the sight of the chaat. Stationed at one end of the buffet spread was the chaat corner, the sight of which, especially the crispy and bloated Gol Gappe made my mouth water. Not to mention, I devoured this savoury snack to my heart’s content.

I was loitering around the grill section trying to make up my mind what to pamper my taste buds next with, when the chef suggested his signature chicken dish. He explained that the chicken is done to perfection on a salt stone slab , and then flavoured with rosemary and thyme  gravy. Did I have the heart to say no to this dish, of course Not; and did it live up to my expectation, of course Yes!! I really appreciate chef for this bespoke service.

Next to land on my plate were the delicious veggie momos. Personally I prefer vegetarian momos over the non veg ones for the mere reason that the crunchy texture of vegetarian filling against the soft outer covering of these little pockets makes me go mmm….. Their taste was further enhanced when enjoyed with the hot-chilli garlic sauce.

If you seek to savour the authentic taste of the chocolate cookies, then DoubleTree Suites by Hilton is the place to be. On the occasion of their 100th anniversary, the guests  were treated to the workshop on cookie making where I too got the opportunity to try my hand at making these decadent treats.

Ok, now one fun fact: For more than 25 years, DoubleTree by Hilton Hotels have been welcoming guests with warm, chocolate chip cookie during check-in.

Another star of the brunch is the Red Velvet cake; the  attractive deep red hues and the unique flavour makes this beauty, a not be missed item.

Well, in addition to the above mentioned , I relished many other mouth-watering preparations at this restaurant and came back home feeling all satiated and good.

So dear Bangaloreans, If you too are looking to enjoy a scrumptious spread in a comfortable setting, the Sunday brunch at Double Tree Hilton is aptly tailored for such an indulgence.

The celebration of the era with the theme of Hilton Firsts will continue for the guests on , 2nd and 9th June 2019.
